Product Description

The Juliet Estate is a small coffee farm with five one-acre plots that can be found in the Kambubu region of Kenya. We first met the owners, Julius and Edith Muriuki, while visiting Kenya in 2013, and have bought their coffees ever since.

While most farmers in Kenya replaced their SL28 and SL34 with higher-yielding, disease and drought-resistant varieties, we worked in close collaboration with the Muriukis to improve quality and develop the farm into producing only SL34.

Over the years the Muriukis replaced their Batian and Ruiru11, and since 2020 we are able to offer a SL34-only selection from Juliet Estate!

coffee farm in Kenya

Juliet is a small estate, comprised of 5 one-acre plots of coffee plants, which are milled directly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Muriuki. The estate is located in Kambubu, a small village situated in the Kiringaya region - Kenya's most popular coffee-growing region, whose coffees are the ones most people talk about when referring to the classic Kenyan cup profile.

A few years ago, we invested in building several raised drying beds on the estate, which we believe have helped the farm's coffees reach their full potential. This year's Juliet AA with its sweetness and balanced acidity is tasting better than ever although the overall production has been much lower than in the past. With this year's earnings, they will start working on a new project - add a new primary drying table and fully tile the washing basin and channels. We all are excited to see the results and keep working with Julius and Edith in the future.
