This coffee produces notes of matured banana, rich hazelnuts, and luxurious dark chocolate for a perfectly balanced flavour. Ideal for classic espresso and sublime with milk-based drinks. The Tres Barras group is a coffee farming collective close to Alto Caparaó, Brazil, led by Fernando Heringer.
Thanks to guidance and support from FAFCoffees, the local coffee farmers have successfully learned to harvest their coffee cherries at the optimal time for quality. Alongside this, they have adopted more effective drying and processing techniques to improve the overall flavour of their coffee, resulting in a cleaner and sweeter taste profile. Both knowledge and skill have been shared by Fernando, enabling other farmers in the region to enhance the quality of their coffee production.
Fernando Heringer and his 100% Catucai lot have made it into this special class of coffee. Fernando’s farm is in Alto Caparaó, adjacent to the Caparaó National Park. This community of coffee producers shares an exceptional microclimate, highly influenced by the National Park.
Nicknamed ‘the rockstar farmer’ for his long blond hair and guitar skills, Fernando Heringer was one of FAF’s first partners in this region. They worked together to improve his harvesting, drying and post-harvest processing methods.
Today, Fernando is a model farmer, sharing these new concepts with his neighbours and adding value to their coffees and the reputation of this remarkable region.
