With prime coffee growing conditions, and a government agency providing strong support and direction to the country’s farmers, it’s no surprise that Guatemala was able to establish itself as a leading producer of premium quality coffees. The coffees we source from Guatemala mostly originate in the Huehuetenango region, the highest non-volcanic part of the country. The area’s unique climate conditions - a mixture of high-altitude, hot winds and persistent rainfall - allow for coffees that are grown at very high altitudes, protected from the risk of frost. The country’s lots are characterized by sharp acidity, well-balanced flavors, and a rich mouthfeel.
