The first commercially grown plots of coffee in Colombia appeared in the first half of the 19th century. Closely tied to the country’s fight for independence from colonial rule, coffee is a central element of Colombian national identity. Due to the mountainous landscape of large parts of the region, and their unique climate conditions, many farmers are able to cultivate specialty-grade beans at very high altitudes. Ever-evolving scientific knowledge and techniques are intertwined with two centuries of experience and traditions, combining together to create a multitude of exciting coffee lots.
